Yossi (Joseph) Goldstein (Hebrew: יוסי (יוסף) גולדשטיין born 1947〔) is an Israeli historian and biographer. Goldstein’s research focuses on Modern Jewish History, the History of Zionism, and the History of the State of Israel. ==Biography==
Yossi Goldstein was born in Haifa, Israel. He served in the regular army as a parachutist, and in 1974 completed his Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Russian Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Working on a Master’s degree at the Hebrew University, Goldstein wrote his thesis advised by Professors Galyah Golan and Yaakov Ro'i on the topic of “Israel’s Relations with the PLO, 1964-1969.” In 1982, he received his doctoral degree at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, based on his research discussing, “The Zionist Movement in Russia in 1897-1904,”〔J. Goldstein,The Zionist Movement in Russia, 1897-1904, Hebrew, 485 pp., 1982. Advisors: Professor Shmuel Ettinger, Professor Yonatan Frenkel, Hebrew University.〕 which he completed under the tutelage of Professors Shmuel Ettinger and Yonatan Frankel. In 1984, Goldstein became a member of the faculty at Haifa University. He continued working there until 1999. During 1977-1992, Goldstein was a faculty member at the Open University of Israel. Goldstein is married to psychologist Orah Tamar née Foa, and has five children and six granddaughters (2012): the journalist Tani Goldstein; the dancer Avigail Ilan; the artist Anat Berman; Uri Goldstein, a student; and the musician Yonatan Goldstein.
